Vyrk obtains EPD approval for its veneered panels and slatted elements

We at Vyrk are proud to announce that our veneered panels and slatted elements have now received EPD approval! This makes us one of the few Norwegian companies to offer veneered panels with this environmental declaration. We are incredibly pleased to be able to take this important step in sustainability.

Internal environmental expertise provides unique EPD benefits

To get a better overview of the environmental footprint of our products, Vyrk has acquired specialized software that calculates the products' life cycle. We have also trained our own employees who have prepared life cycle assessments themselves – unlike many other companies that hire consultants. This gives us unique knowledge about how our products affect the environment.

The work has been demanding, but educational. And the results are impressive: in just a short time, we have had as many as nine EPDs approved and published.

What is an EPD and why is it important?

EPD is short for Environmental Product Declaration and is an official document that shows the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle. This covers everything from raw material extraction, production, and transport to use and disposal or recycling.

EPDs abide by international standards and make it easy to compare environmental performance between different products.

For the construction industry, EPDs are crucial as they provide full transparency about the environmental footprint of materials. This is becoming increasingly important as the requirements for sustainable building solutions are tightened through new environmental regulations and increased climate awareness.
