Wood Hotel Bodø - Sustainable architecture with Trysilpanel from Vyrk

Wood Hotel Bodø is a spectacular landmark building that sets the standard for modern and environmentally friendly hotel architecture in Norway and beyond.

The 10,000 square-metre hotel on Rønvikfjellet – with a magnificent view of both Bodø, the Vestfjord and Børvasstindene – represents a unique meeting between innovation and tradition.

The hotel was developed by AB Invest and is operated by Strawberry. It consists of 145 hotel rooms, 32 hotel apartments, a large wellness area with sauna and heated rooftop pool, conference facilities and an inviting restaurant.

Eco-friendly materials and modern architecture

Turnkey contractor Hent and KB Arkitekter have collaborated to make the impressive project a reality. They have chosen building materials such as solid wood and glulam, which has slashed the CO2 footprint by as much as 45%.

Solar cells on the roof and locally sourced furniture from Slettvoll underline the strong environmental focus. Art by H.M. Queen Sonja gives the hotel an extra dimension of Norwegian culture. The hotel (naturally) also chose Trysilpanel from Vyrk – which is without a doubt the most sustainable panel on the Norwegian market today.

Trysilpanel from Vyrk: tradition and innovation

Trysilpanel (Trysil panels) adorn the walls in large parts of the new hotel.

The oak surface, and the colours Vassfaret and Kviteberg, help create a warm and natural atmosphere.

The modern and eco-friendly version of the traditional Trysil panel is a perfect choice for a hotel that prioritises sustainable materials without compromising on aesthetics.

Trysilpanelet has a unique deposit scheme which means that the panel can in principle last forever. The panel also has a flexible mounting system that makes it easy to adapt and reuse – which is in harmony with the hotel's vision of long-term sustainability.

This not only helps reduce the need for logging and encroachment on nature but also ensures that carbon is sequestered throughout the entire period of use.

"Trysilpanel has been developed to be the most sustainable panel on the market, and we are proud to be part of Wood Hotel Bodø," says Managing Director Steinar Lyseng in Vyrk.

A unique collaboration

Wood Hotel Bodø demonstrates how Norwegian companies can work together to create modern construction projects that combine sustainability, quality and design. Vyrk is proud to contribute to this project and looks forward to being part of more such projects in the future.

Fortunately, the client is also very satisfied with the collaboration:

"Vyrk is every bit as solid as the wood it delivers, which has created both a desire and a sense of security to continue working together," says developer Arthur Buchardt. He reveals that his company has many projects in the pipeline, several of which involve wood.
